33rdPrime - Excellent Accessible Design

Who are you?

33^RDPRIME is a very small (just me and sometimes a little bit of outside assistance) web design Studio located physically in Forks, Washington. My name is Patrick Teglia, and that is also my business name.

Why the different website names?

Formerly named DesigningDad.com, and prior to that TechRemedies.com. Why do I keep switching names? As I learn and grow, I find that I am constantly changing and evolving. I still support the same customers that I had when I was TechRemedies.com, and always will, but my skills and motivation have changed over time. This is reflected in the design and name of my websites. I am a bit more complex than I used to be, hence this new name (more on this below).

What do you do?

I am about making accessible, attractive, valid, and high quality web sites. That's it. In the past, before I learned about a few things (namely that 97% of all websites are still not accessible), the focus wasn't accessibility. This has changed. I have always been about attractive and when possible, valid websites, but now I have found something much more meaningful, accessibility.

I also keep an eye out for security. Way back when, I was a security consultant for banks and credit unions (hacker) helped to ensure the protection of hundreds of thousands of people's private details. Perhaps that's why other banks and federal credit unions have put their websites in my hands.

Why 33^RDPRIME and why 137?

Good questions, and I am glad you asked. I probably don't have enough space here to describe the enigma that is the number 137. Firstly, 137 is the 33rd. prime number, and it is a strong prime.

The number 137 is almost identical in value to the fine structure constant and is pretty much a mathematical weirdness. Richard Feynman, one of the founders of quantum electrodynamics, referred to it as "one of the greatest damn mysteries of physics: a magic number that comes to us with no understanding by man.". Check out the wiki article linked here and you will start to get an idea of what I am talking about. Really, check it out. It is VERY cool.

About This Site

I programmed the blog and content management system (we'll codename it Rome because it wasn't built in a day... :) that this site runs on using the CodeIgniter PHP framework, a kick butt way to save oodles of time coding PHP. It easily handles many of the redundant tasks, and helps to ensure an ordered manner of coding.

This site is happily hosted on BlueHost.com and has been for quite a while. They kick butt. For a little less than seven bucks a month they give you unlimited domains, 300 gigs of space, 3000 gigs of transfer, and really good techi-people (24/7). I have taken advantage of the techs before, they do rock.
